Pearls of Service Foundation KY was established to support the programs of Beta Gamma Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated (AKA), the oldest African American female Greek-lettered organization in the country, founded in 1908 to provide “service to all Mankind.”
Since its founding, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated has implemented programs of service impacting countless lives; and since its chartering in 1934, the Beta Gamma Omega Chapter of AKA in Lexington has sponsored programs to award scholarships for post-secondary education and has implemented programs to improve the health, wealth, and well-being of the citizens of Lexington and Central Kentucky.
The Foundations signature programs, Miss Fashionetta Scholarship Program, AKA Fashion Show and the Annual Coretta Scott King “Spirit of Ivy” Awards luncheon held on the Saturday prior to the Martin Luther King Holiday. These programs are structured to support the vision of the Sorority’s International Targets on a local level.
